This is one of my first attempts at what was to become “Adaptive Web Page Design.” It was a Social Studies Grade 11 course outline created by the North Vancouver School District teachers.

The original idea was to publish it as a PDF which was the most versatile format since HTML and CSS were in their infancy. The challenge was to deal with all the different screen resolutions to render something that looked like a published document.

I converted the document from its original Word format to PDF, but I also took on the challenge of converting it to HTML using what was “Cutting Edge CSS” at the time. You can resize your browser window to almost any size imaginable, and the page content will flow to fit.

The document still renders today just as it did 20 years ago, but the most amazing thing is how minimal the code is.
