To satisfy our demand for performance, we have just updated our home server to the following:

Server Supermicro 2028TP-HTR (hot-swap HDD)
CPU Intel Xeon E5-2680v4 14c/28t 2.3-3.3GHz
RAM 128GB Hynix DDR4 RDIMM 2133MHz ECC
Storage 2 x 960GB SSD Micron 5100 PRO (Raid I)

Client, utility, and NAS servers are updated regularly to maintain optimum performance and reliability.

Network Updates

We’ve also made network changes to improve our capacity and response time by switching from Apache to NGINX with proxy-caching.

Initial tests on a fresh WordPress installation using the default theme were that even without a cache, the response time was 250ms, well below the 600ms recommended minimum.

After switching to NGINX and integrating the cache, the response time was reduced to 2ms.

We’re happy with the results and know you will be too.
